2nd October
On your marks, get set, quack! Up to 7,000 plastic yellow ducks make a break for it on open water in Germany each October. Held annually, the Tubinger Duck Race owes more to river tides than racing skill but that doesn't stop thousands of onlookers from yelling advice as owners attempt to chivvy their coot along. At 2 pm a starting gun fires at Alleenbrucke, but arrive an hour earlier to rent a duck with winning pedigree.
