As Australia's comedy capital, Melbourne play host to the International Comedy Festival, one of the three largest comedy festival in the world, alongside the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs. Launched in 1987 by Barry Humphries and Peter Cook, Melbourne's annual comedy fest boasts a powerful program of stand-up, Improvisation, cabaret, street theatre, film, television and radio. Running for the three-and-a-half side-splitting weeks, the festival showcase and celebrates top Aussie and international comic talent.
